Why I'm Running

Meet Nolan

After experiencing a school shooting as a sophomore in 2018, I felt called to give back to the community that had given so much to me. When I graduated in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I entered public safety, completing an EMT program and additional training through the Illinois Fire Service Institute. Since then, my service has included work with local EMS and fire departments throughout the district, as well as being the longest-serving Youth Representative with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Illinois. Along the way, I have seen firsthand the consequences of inadequate access to healthcare and mental health services, including tragedies that could have been prevented. Those experiences have shaped my commitment to public service and my belief that every community deserves responsive leadership, strong public service, and access to the care people need.

Illinois 74th District

The 74th District represents the heart of northwestern Illinois, bringing together communities including Dixon, Sterling, Rock Falls, Rochelle, Mendota, Morrison, Amboy, and many of the small towns and rural communities in between. Our district is built on a strong foundation of agriculture and manufacturing, with generations of families working our farms, factories, and small businesses. The district reaches into three of Illinois’ top ten corn-producing counties and is home to major manufacturers that provide good-paying jobs and produce goods shipped across the country and around the world. From our farms and factories to our Main Streets, the 74th District represents the hardworking communities that help keep Illinois moving.
